The Pine Fortress

When you’re fourteen, life in the countryside is a real adventure! The hero of this story finds himself completely on his own for the first time, looking after the farm whilst the whole family swelts in the stifling summer heat of the city. But he has a blank sketchbook with him to fill with drawings, and his grandfather’s old 36-exposure camera. The idyll of country solitude is slightly disrupted by the arrival of his best friend, but with him it’s even more fun to ride their bikes round the village and swim in the lake. On one such trip, the friends set up their own secret hideout, the Pine Fortress.
But soon there will be no trace left of the harmony and tranquility of those summer days. Someone special will come between the friends — someone who wasn’t part of the plan to begin with… During this stifling, stormy summer, the most important, the very most significant event will take place. Something that will change both friends’ lives forever.
