The book “The Twin Theorem” welcomes the reader into the world after a global catastrophe, wherethe government completely controls childbirth and the fate of children. Society is built on the principle of “usefulness”: every person must serve benefits for the system, while emotions and personalfreedom areconsidered dangerous. Based on the new law each family is allowed to raise only one child. If twins or multiplechildren are born, one “primary” child must be chosen, while the others are sent to special institutions. Thesechildren become a kind of “reserve” for society. They are deprived of a normal family, freedom of choice, and even their own identity. Our main heroes, Nika and Lika are twin sisters, but their lives were divided from the moment theywere born: one became the “Primary” child, while the other became the “Reserve.” Through their stories, theauthor reveals the injustice and cruelty of the system. Their friendship, first love, and desire to uncover theirown past lead them into conflict with the authorities. The story combines elements of psychological dramaand dystopian fiction: the characters struggle to understand whether it is possible to preserve humanity in aworld where people are treated as resources.
